We’re back! The year’s already off to a solid start with some great releases. A few highlights:

  • Amber Mark released an impressive and soulful debut album, Three Dimensions Deep last week, and has followed it up with an incredible Tiny Desk performance. I’m looking forward to her tour later this year!

  • Saxophonist and Blue Note artist Immanuel Wilkins released his sophomore album, The 7th Hand, a phenomenal body of work made in the tradition of Black diasporic spiritual traditions.

  • After many years producing for the likes of Bilal and Vivian Green, and serving as one half of the Philadelphia-based duo Killiam Shakespeare, pianist and producer, Corey Bernhard released his debut, solo album, Fool’s Pirouette; an album that displays Bernhard’s vast palette as composer, producer, and pianist.

  • The Weeknd released his 5th studio album, Dawn FM, an ambitious and sonically lush follow up to his 2020 album, After Hours. (Dawn FM feels like the album he was trying to make on After Hours; or at least, the album I wanted him to make.) If nothing else, I appreciate The Weekend’s attempt at making “big” music, committing to a sound and look.

  • Just when I thought Yebba couldn’t do any more for me, she releases an absolutely gorgeous 5-song EP Live at Electric Lady.

The first 12 songs were selected by me, Stanley, and the last 9songs were selected by Kevin. We hope you find a song you like, and check out the entire album!
